Master Chief Lemmons was born in
Charlotte, North Carolina. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy on 6 May
1977 and completed his recruit training in Orlando, Florida, in
June 1977. He attended Yeoman "A" School at Meridian,
Mississippi, graduating in September 1977. Master Chief Lemmons
was selected for conversion to the Legalman rating in February
1981. He graduated from Naval Justice School, Newport, Rhode
Island, Legalman/Court Reporting Course, in June 1981.
Master Chief Lemmons' history of assignments and stations include: Administrative/ Officers' Records Clerk, TAD/Leave Yeoman, and Classified Material/Publications Librarian at Attack Squadron 174, Naval Air Station, Cecil Field, Florida; Supply Department Yeoman and Ship's Legal Clerk on board USS Simon Lake (AS-33), Kings Bay, Georgia; SJA Legalman on the staff of Commander, Light Attack Wing, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Naval Air Station, Lemoore, California; Leading Petty Officer and Paralegal to the Special Assistant U.S. Attorney's Office, at Naval Station, Long Beach, California; Senior Court Reporter, Claims Paralegal, and Command Chief, at U.S. Naval Legal Service Office, Guam; Instructor, Paralegal Division, Naval Justice School, Newport, Rhode Island; Legal Officer, on board USS Guadalcanal (LPH 7), Norfolk, Virginia; and Instructor and Senior Enlisted Advisor, at Naval Justice School Detachment, San Diego, California.
Master Chief Lemmons was selected as Naval Station Long Beach Sailor of the Year for 1984 and selected as the Judge Advocate General's Legalman of the Year for 1985.
Master Chief Lemmons reported for duty as Command Master Chief, Naval Legal Service Office Northwest, in January 1998.
Master Chief Lemmons is entitled to wear the Navy Commendation Medal (4th award), Navy Achievement Medal (6th award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle Efficiency Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (5th award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (w/campaign star), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd award). He is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist device.
